#58,926 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

There were maybe 5 or 6 pages that were news to me. Sorry Caitlyn, but too much exposed through the media prior to print.

Very poorly written and often times boring. Both characters seem to have a lack of emotion and come across and self absorbed and no empathy towards the way the children were treated. Nothing really seemed sincere and I struggled to finish the book seeing as I paid $15 for it...

Straight female, white, married, Midwest Independent here. I really was rooting for her. From Day 1. I mean, how much courage does it take to do what Caitlyn did? I was not even alive when she won the 78 Olympics but I always knew who she was, even before KUWTK (which I don't watch). I wanted to watch her succeed and show that there is authenticity in living your true self, no matter how you get there. The thing is: Caitlyn isn't a 21 year old. I get that she never got the experiences of a female youth. I get that she is authentically feels feminine. But there is so much more to being a woman than lipstick and heels. We don't sit around all day and paint our nails and look at fashion magazines. Well, most of us. It's almost like she looks at females and our relationships with one another as a big pillow fight and then we try on each other's clothes. That we aren't much deeper than that. The book recaps what we already know about her discovery and fierce attempt to hide her self. The sheer struggle is heart breaking. I can't imagine how lonely that is. And this was a time before acceptance, before support groups or internet searches. That is truly magnificent, to know what Bruce was carrying on his shoulders and he still was able to channel that secret into magnificence.Caitlyn tells us how Kris isolated him from his family but it's not like she held him in a cage. That is where I was the most frustrated. I get there was some control there, but own the fact that you let it happen. What the wives knew, what they didn't, I don't think she is lying. At all. I think she is telling her story. Maybe her truth doesn't jive with someone else's perspective, but that doesn't make it wrong. The book was well written, although not anything too new or unexpected, and I think too soon in her journey. I really would have liked to read how Cait took missteps and remedied them. Explored her gender a little more. But I don't give a damn about which make up line she endorses. And I am a very feminine woman:)

Written by the only person who is actually worse than the Kardashians. This isn't so much a book of secrets rather than Caitlyn's own personal journey. I would borrow this book from the library if you are that keen on reading it......or buy it used through Amazon.....don't pay full price like I did.

I will say, the one good thing about this book is I learned a lot about Bruce/Caitlyn's life, as I hadn't heard of Bruce Jenner except on "Keeping up with Kardashians". I couldn't figure out why he was so famous, but I know of the athletic side of his life so much more now and relationships with other celebrities/ Hollywood. As far as the negatives go...1. He's self absorbed and a total blah to read about. It seems in his book the world revolves around him to the point where I rolled my eyes multiple times.2. He blames everyone else for his problems. I get that he had a lot going on mentally throughout his life, however a lot of the marriages/ kids / situations he just blames on other people, or the situations themselves. Even when he does admit wrongdoing, he doesn't take any action to correct his actions. More of a "Poor Me" situation.3. He seems to have a love/hate relationship with every wife he had. He blames them for taking too much control and not letting him do what he wants, or understanding him. HOWEVER, it is so frustrating because he never opens up to them or tells them the whole truth (Or he never mentions it). He keeps secrets from his family because of the gender problems. Then they find out about the crossdressing/ gender issues and get upset with him and he doesn't understand why... He causes a lot of his own problems.4. He only briefly touches on the subject about him being against gay marriage and why. I don't agree with him, but I was hoping to at least read a reasonable argument on why he feels that way as a transgender person. After reading this book I get the feeling that there are some mental issues playing into this reasoning in his head (Almost as if he doesn't see himself as a transgender, but a "True" women?? It's very, very strange).5. He plays into the female stereotype of pettiness, cattiness, self-absorption, clothes obsession, etc. Almost as if he's trying to mimic what women are supposed to be like?? I found it a little hilarious, and a lot offensive.

I debated for awhile about reading this. But I am glad I bought it and read it. I thought it was "her" story. I liked it. If you are looking for Kardashian bashing, it is not in this book. I think she treat all three of his x wives with respect. I actually do not know why any of the Kardashians were upset by this book, this is her story and she told it from her point of view. I remember when Bruce won the Olympics and did not understand all of this until reading his/her story. A lot of this book is about the struggles of trans genders that do not have a voice.

First off, I watched the Kardashians since day 1. And always felt sorry for Bruce and how Kris and kids treated him. He was always trying hard to fit in the family but he never quite could. I also followed this story when it came out and was a little surprised but happy too.Although this isn’t a “groundbreaking” book or shocking (if you already knew of this story) it’s nice to have insight and perspective and try to understand what transgendered people go through.I mostly read this for the curiosity because of how the Kardashian’s snubbed Caitlyn after the book came out and didn’t like her opinion of Kris, which I really didn’t think was that cruel or dishonest. All
